Graduated Davidson college and Princeton Theological Seminary and served (with each wife) as a Presbyterian missionary in Japan, 1890-1937.
Married Margaret Ann White June. 8, 1897
Graduated Davidson college & Jefferson Medical College. Practiced medicine in Mooresville, NC.
Married Mary B. Torrance Apr. 26, 1897
Lynn and Mary served as medical missionaries in China, then Lynn went to Union Theological Seminary and served as pastor in Presbyterian Churches in NC

Lizzie went to Japan to help her brother John raise his motherless son and later became a school teacher in NC
Graduated Davidson College (receiving an Honorary Degree in 19xx) and Princeton Theological Seminary, and served many years as pastor of Bluefield Presbyterian Church, Bluefield, W.Va.
Uncle Sam never married, saying that he did not want to expose a wife to the living in a coal-mine area.
Married Adrian Montrose Sample Dec. 4, 1900. They engaged in the citrus business in southern Florida
Married Thomas Jefferson Smith Oct. 23, 1901. They engaged in business in Charlotte NC
Married Daniel thomas McCarty Oct. 25, 1905). They owned and citrus and pineapple business in southern Florida and Dan served on the board of a bank.
