She married Howard Kastrinsky on June 10, 1979.
After three years in Alexandria, Va, they settled in Winston-Salem N.C. where Howard was a lawyer for the National Labor Relations Board.
In 1986 Howie joined a law firm and they moved to Nashville, TN.
