John Watson Moore

Born to John Wallace Moore ("Papa") and Ellie Reid on April 20, 1891

At the age of 7, when his family returned to Japan, he was left with his Grandfather, John Wilson Moore, to be educated. Indeed, he was educated in many ways by his "Grandpa" and thus this book.

John Watson was also educated at Davidson College, in the class of 1914, and then went to France as an Calvary Officer in the Army in the First World War. His life was spared by a recall to the US to teach new officers.

He married Marjorie Kinnier McAlpine on Aug 14, 1919, and settled in Winston-Salem N.C. to became a teacher, principal, and then superintendent of the schools there. An elementary school was named after him.
