Establishment of the NC School of the Arts

Established in 1963, the NC School of the Arts grew in size and mission to such importance that it became one of the 17 campuses included in the newly formed University of North Carolina system in 1972. In 2008, to reflect and celebrate its strength, its name was changed to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA).
