First, to Margaret (Maggie) Gibbon
, the youngest daughter of John H. and Catherine Lardner Gibbon, on September
5, 1865 in Mecklenburg County.
They had four sons and four daughters; she died in 1886. An early photo of John Wilson and some of his children and a later one with their families and children.
All of them were remarkably well educated as demonstrated by the advanced degrees of their sons; one Physician and three Presbyterian ministers -two of whom became missionaries to Japan and China. Two sons, John Wallace and Samuel Wilson, as well as a grendson, John Watson, were awarded honorary degrees by Davidson College.
